Looking to become a qualified surveillance professional? Our SIA-approved training programme is the fastest route to your licence and a rewarding career in security monitoring.
This intensive 3-day course covers everything needed to pass your qualification exam and begin working legally in the private security industry. With over 4 million surveillance cameras across the UK and growing demand for qualified professionals, now is the perfect time to get certified.
What is Public Space Surveillance?
Public space surveillance involves monitoring security camera systems in places like shopping centres, transport hubs, corporate buildings, and public areas. In the UK, anyone working in this role must hold a valid SIA licence. This ensures only trained professionals handle sensitive monitoring responsibilities and understand data protection requirements.
The Security Industry Authority (SIA) regulates this sector. They require all operators to complete an approved qualification before applying for their licence. Our course fulfils this requirement and prepares you for real-world work.

No prior experience is required. This course is designed for complete beginners. We’ll teach you everything from scratch. Many of our students have never worked in security before.
What happens if I don’t pass the exam?
Unlimited retakes are included in your course fee. If you don’t pass first time, we’ll provide additional support and you can retake at no extra cost. Our 97% pass rate shows most people succeed first time with our training.
Can I take the course if English isn’t my first language?
Yes, as long as you can read, write, and speak basic English. The exam and control room work require English proficiency. If you’re unsure about your level, call us for a quick assessment chat.
What should I bring to the course?
Just yourself, photo ID (for exam purposes), and something to write with. We provide all course materials, handouts, and equipment. Wear comfortable clothing – there’s no dress code for training.
What if I need to miss a day due to illness or emergency?
Contact us immediately. You can join the missed day on our next course at no extra cost. You must attend all 3 days to qualify for assessment.
Is the course difficult? I’m not good at exams.

Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. We offer payment plans for those who need them. Call us on 08000 24 2443 to arrange. We want finances to not prevent you from training.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancel up to 7 days before the course for a full refund. Cancel 3-7 days before for 50% refund. Within 3 days is non-refundable but you can transfer to another date free of charge.
Do you offer group discounts?
Yes. Book 3 or more people together for a discount. Call 08000 24 2443 for group rates.
After the Course
When will I receive my certificate?
You’ll know your results the same day. Your certificate number is available immediately (you need this for SIA application). The physical certificate arrives by post within 4-6 weeks.
Can I start applying for my SIA licence immediately after passing?
Yes. Once you have your certificate number (same day), you can apply online to the SIA. You don’t need to wait for the physical certificate to arrive.
How long does the SIA licence take to process?
Typically 4-6 weeks from application to licence arrival. During busy periods it can take up to 8 weeks. Apply as soon as you pass to minimize waiting time.
Can I work while waiting for my licence?
No. It’s illegal to work in a surveillance role without a valid SIA licence. You must wait for your licence to arrive before starting work. Breaking this law can result in prosecution and make it much harder to get licensed later.
How long is the SIA licence valid?
3 years from the date of issue. You’ll need to renew it every 3 years to continue working (simpler renewal process, no need to retake the course).
Will a criminal record stop me getting a licence?
Not necessarily. The SIA assesses each case individually. Minor offences or old convictions often don’t prevent licensing. Serious violent crimes, sex offences, or recent drug offences are more likely to be rejected. Call us confidentially to discuss your situation.
